Richard A. Weems, D.M.D., M.S. is a native of Birmingham, Alabama and received his DMD from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry (UAB) in 1977. Immediately following dental school, he served sas a dental officer in the U.S. Army Dental Crops. He returned to UAB to earn a Master's Degree in Dental
Radiology in 1984, and has been a full-time dental educator since that time. Currently, he is Associate Profssor and Director of Dental Radiology and Director of Student Affairs at the University of AlbamaSchool of Dentistry.

In addition to his teaching position, Dr. Weems is a forensic dentist.He has been
a dental consultant to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences since
1987 and has investigated over 100 cases involving criminal human bitemark
analysis and victim identification through dental remains resulting from homicide
and accidental death.He is the Co Director of the Albama Dental Mass
Disaster Identification Team and is also a member of the national mass disaster
response team, DMORT, of the Department of Health and human Services.
Dr. Weems was recently deployed to New York as part in hisregional
DMORT Team's activity in assisting in the identification of victims from the
World Trade Center disaster Which took place on September 11,2001.

Dr. Weems' publication have appeared in major dental research journals and
textbooks, and he has lectured nationally on a variety of topics concerning dental
radiology and forensic dentistry.
