Carol Johnson, RDH, MSHA

Carol graduated from the State University of New York, Farmingdale with an Associate of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene. She practiced in New York before moving to Georgia where she was in private practice for twenty years. She is a graduate of Georgia State University’s School of Business with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and a Masters in Health Administration. She has been Director for over twelve years in the Dental Hygiene Program at West Central Technical College.

 

Carol teaches Community Dental Health, Radiology, Ethics, and Periodontology. The program goals at West Central Technical College’s Dental Hygiene Program were developed by Carol to address access to care, to serve the population, to reach out to the underserved and indigent, with a strong focus on oral health prevention for the less fortunate. The dental hygiene students in the program at WCTC rotate to clinics and serve populations in three indigent clinics.

Carol is an educational consultant for the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation. She has served as the dental hygiene representative on the State Dental Consortium participating in a collaborative action addressing ways the state’s oral health professionals could improve access to oral healthcare for the state’s underserved populations. Carol is the State Program Chairperson for SEAL Georgia which provides screening and free sealants for Georgia’s disadvantaged children. Carol was awarded the Lighthouse Award as an Outstanding Faculty member from her College. She has edited textbooks for two publishers.

Carol is an avid gardener. She has seven grandchildren, two daughters and two sons. She is happily married to Davis also an educator.
