Shirley M Beaver, R.D.H., Ph.D.

Dr. Beaver is an Associate Professor and Director of the Kennedy-King College Dental Hygiene program at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry. She earned a Certificate in Dental Hygiene, Bachelor of Arts in General Science and Master of Science in Dental Hygiene and Education from the University of Iowa. Her doctorate in Health Education is from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois. Dr. Beaver has worked in various areas of dental hygiene including public health, research, education and clinical practice. She currently works in clinical practice, is involved in a research study, and is full-time in education.

She is active in a variety of Professional Associations. She is a member of ADHA, was District VIII Trustee and President of the Illinois Dental Hygienists’ Association. Dr. Beaver is a member, a delegate, and has served on committees with ADEA. She is a member of APHA, Sigma Phi Alpha, Omicron Kappa Upsilon, and Eta Kappa Gamma. She has numerous local, state, national and international presentations including an ADHA National Teleconference. Shirley also has numerous presentations. Dr. Beaver’s research emphasis has been on ethics and special needs clients.

Dr. Beaver's research emphasis has been on special needs clients, especially geriatrics. She has conducted a variety of persentations to various Professional organization including IDHA, ADHA, AADS, and was a speaker on the ADHA National Teleconfrence.
